Pittsburgh. ONE day early!!

Day 7, Wednesday August 18, 2010

I am currently sitting in Pittsburgh, in Te Café (http://www.te-cafe.com/) on Murray Ave in Squirrel Hill.
We made it to Pittsburgh so quickly, a whole day early, that I can have time to sit and blog for the first time. It is amazing how helpful people have been. We came in early and Rabbi Scott Aaron, who is hosting the first event tonight—Sweets, Cycles and Social Justice—graciously let us stay a night early.
This morning, we did not want to wake up at all. The prospect of not biking for one whole day influenced our bodies, which told us outright that we needed to REST. Our bodies also told us that our metabolism was still willing to consume as much as if we were biking another 55 miles, so we shared a dozen eggs, an apple and left over pasta from the night before.

In prepping for my first event, I have spread out all over the café, while my team of fellow bikers are in the local shop getting extra gear (like handy shoe covers which will keep our feet dry next time we are stuck in a thunder storm). Simply by talking out loud to myself, practicing my talk for tonight, I got two donations, free tea and pens, suggestions for how to make my website more appealing and a place to stay in Indiana!

Wish me luck tonight! AVODAHcycle!!
