Why we were delayed on the first day

If you check the weather report, you will see on Thursday, August 12, that the Washington DC area was hit with not one, but multiple intense thunder storms and possibly tornados,

Not only did we make it to our departure from the JCC a bit delayed (8:45 am instead of 7:15 am), but we also got soaked about half way through our day. We rode through 2 inch puddles and our entire belongings we found out, were water repellent which is different from water resistant.

This is us when we were waiting to leave the house (which we found out had a flooded basement within 10 minutes) and our things drying.

The worst part I think was when we finally made it into our semi-dry tents are looked up the weather for the next 10 days: Thunderstorms, precipitation more than 50%…Thank goodness we got that out of our system on the first day.
