Shoutout to Alli, the third star in our trifecto

Alli worked with me at the CAIR Coalition this past year.  She was a major support in the pre-trip training and planning.  Her relaxed outlook and quirky humor of biking over 700 miles from DC to Chicago was key to a successful first two weeks. She added a favorite food creation that we now make occasionally: the OATMEAL ball. When you only have a few different types of food, you have to get creative and Alli’s creation consisted of cooked oatmeal, dried fruit, nuts, sunflower seed butter, honey and whatever else, mashed and rolled into a perfect ball. It is basically trail mix in an easy, edible, on-the-go form.

She also was key in our triple shout-out to people we passed by. First we would say, going to Seattle!. Then I would start by shouting “Anything is possible,” JP followed with “you can do it!” and Alli would finish us off by saying “Use your legs!”  People probably thought we were slightly insane, but that is all part of the experience, right?

As JP and I continue to ride on in pursuit of the Pacific, Alli begins her new job as a Research Associate with Woods and Poole Economics in DC.  She returned to DC by car this time, hopefully a lot quicker, like 2 days as opposed to 2 weeks..  Alli looks forward to being back in DC, living with close friends from her year with the Lutheran Service Corp. We love you ALLI!!! Good luck!
